HYDRO POWER FOR CAMANACHD CUP

The Camanachd Association has announced that Scottish Hydro has signed a three year extension to its sponsorship of the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup along with various youth activities.
 
The renewal represents an investment of more than £150,000 over the next three years.

As well as the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup, the sponsorship will also cover the Scottish Hydro youth development camp for under-17 players and the Scottish Hydro youth development fund.  The fund, which was introduced in 2011, aims to support member clubs wishing to increase youth participation by providing a grant award in support of new or enhanced club initiatives. The aim is to deliver long-term growth in the number of youngsters playing shinty.
Speaking on the announcement, Camanachd Association director, Donald Stewart, said: “This announcement is another good news story for shinty.  Scottish Hydro has shown the Camanachd Association and the sport itself huge support over the past five years, with the name ‘The Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup’ becoming renowned amongst the shinty community, so it is great  to know that the partnership is continuing for a further three years.”
The sponsorsip manager for Scottish Hydro is Jonny Petrie, a former Scotland rigby international forward and captain, spoke of his delight at Scottish Hydro maintaining their support of shinty and the Camanachd Association. He said: “We are very proud to be associated with the game of shinty. By extending our sponsorship of the Camanachd Cup, and supporting both the youth development camp for youth development fund, we are reaching out to players at various stages in their journey through this great sport.”
