I was listening to John Beattie's Sport Nation on Radio Scotland yesterday, and there was a discussion on the programme about statues for sporting heroes.
The light hearted item discussed who in the sporting world should have a statue erected to them.
It got me thinking - who from the world of shinty should have a statue erected in their honour?
Perhaps great players, administrators, supporters, refs (aye, refs - come on, give them a break) or whoever.
What do you reckon?
I've put up a poll to ask the question, narrowing things down a bit - but I want to hear from the great shinty public.
My own (some tongue-in-cheek) nominations are:
David 'Tarzan' Ritchie - legendary Newtonmore player and captain
Donnie Grant - As above, but substitute Newtonmore for Kingussie
Celly Paterson - Another legend as a player and manager for Kyles Athletic. Also a major figure in shinty's ruling bodies.
John Sloggie - refereeing legend
GY Slater - Oban legend and shinty stalwart
Ronald Ross - ...who?
There are plenty of other candidates, from Barney Crawford to Jock Paul MacIntosh to Duncan Cameron, and many more besides.
Tell us about your candidates.
