SPORT RELIEF - SHINTY FUNDRAISING IDEAS

Just an idea - Sport Relief is taking place just now, and there are plenty of ways to raise cash for this charity through shinty clubs and supporters.

What are you doing this weekend?

Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. It’s back from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th March.
The money raised is spent by Comic Relief to help people living incredibly tough lives, both at home in the UK and across the world's poorest countries. It goes a long way too. From transforming the lives of people in the UK’s most disadvantaged communities, or those living with poor mental or physical health, to protecting street children and providing life-saving healthcare abroad.

How can shinty help?

There are plenty of fundraising ideas here.

You could do the simple thing like passing a bunnet round shinty changing rooms or around match touchlines this weekend, or doing daft stuff like charging the opposition 50p each for every goal your team scores against them - though Shintyfan in no way condones match fixing in aid of any charity, Sport Relief or otherwise. Phew.
Just a bit of fun in a good cause.

Why not hold a sport quiz in the pub after the game on Saturday. Make sure the opposition don't all clear off afterwards, and challenge them to a Sport Relief quiz, with everyone paying a donation of a quid or two to enter.

After the game, you could also get together for a fundraising event. Left handed pool competition? Beermat spinning? cream cracker eating? keepy-uppy (just to give it a shinty flavour), impromptu talent contest?
Whatever the idea, as long as it is legal, harmless, daft and good fun - and raises plenty of dosh, it will do fine.
Find out how to pay in donations here.

Go on, go on, go on - it's all in a good cause.
