MACTAVISH AND CELTIC CUP SEMI VENUES DECIDED

The toss of a coin has decided the venues for the semi-final ties in shinty's major regional cup competitions.
The Camanachd Association Annual General Meeting in Fort William on Friday evening saw club representatives claim heads or tails to decide the penultimate ties in this season's AJG Celtic Society Cup and Co-operative MacTavish Cup.

Amid jokes that Ian McPhee's coin may have been slightly double-sided, heads came up trumps for four clubs who each have home advantage for next month's semis.

In the Celtic Cup, home advantage will go to Bute as they take on fellow premier side Inveraray; while Aberdour will be at home to Taynuilt in an all-south first division encounter.

In the north, the Co-op MacTavish semi-final draw favoured division one side Lochaber, who will face holders Kingussie at Spean Bridge. Glenurquhart can also look forward to the comforts of home when they face premier leaders and champions Newtonmore in the other semi.

The semi-finals of both competitions will take place on Saturday  May 19, with the Co-operative MacTavish Cup Final set for Saturday June 16 at Bught Park, Inverness and the AJG Parcels Celtic Society Cup Final taking place on Saturday June 23 in Strachur.
