JOHN STICKS IT TO RIVALS

Check out the results of our who-should-get-a-statue poll to the left side of this page.

In a shocking development...
...Shintyfan followers have favoured the achievements of one of shinty's characters ahead of some of its greatest players.
And the winner is...veteran referee, caman maker and shinty enthusiast, John Sloggie of Glengarry.

Securing 43 per cent of the total, he managed almost twice as many votes as Newtonmore legend David 'Tarzan'Ritchie, who himself received double the number of nominations as modern-day striking phenomenon, Ronald Ross of Kingussie.

So - citizens of Invergarry - where should Mr Sloggie's statue be sited, and of what material should it be constructed?

And - if your favourite didn't manage to register - don't worry, it's just a bit of fun. Make sure, though, to cast your vote in our next poll.

What will be the subject of our next poll? Who knows.

Perhaps you have some ideas.
