BRITISH AND IRISH JOIN FORCES IN COMBAT

The British army's very own shinty team is to take on the cream of the Irish Defence Force's hurlers in a special charity match later this month - in the first ever international of its kind between the two countries.

With players drawn mainly from the old Highland Regiments - now 4 SCOTS (The Highlanders) and 5 SCOTS (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) within the Royal Regiment of Scotland, SCOTS Camanachd will take on the Irish hurlers in a compromise-rules match in Inverness on April 28.

Gates at the Bught Park open at 5.30pm and entry, by donation, will go to Poppy Scotland.

SCOTS Camanachd Club has also entered the Bullough and Sutherland cups this year, and is always on the lookout for shinty players from within the armed forces to get involved.

Anyone interested in playing for the club is requested to contact Capt Robert Stoddart, club secretary, at robert.stoddart185@mod.uk

Find out more by visiting the club's web page.
